Let us remember that the Scripture would never contradict itself...
Gen 1 is and Gen 2 (especiallt the creation of man and woman) are not contradicting each other but is complement to each other. Gen 1 is provides a general description and Gen 2 is specific. Gen 1 presents the chronological events that took place at the six days of creation while Gen 2 is focus on expanding the event that took place in Genesis 1 specifically in the Sixth day of creation. There is no contradiction in this passages, but the author was just simply a common literary device describing an event from the general to the specific.
Note: To know more about this topic, would require an understanding of some concept on Biblical Literature. I hope this information would somehow help you is your search for an answer.

Bro LEX14 is correct in his answer regarding this seeming discrepancy. I would also like to say that Genesis 1 provides the outline of events, and chapter 2 gives details. Taken together, the two chapters provide a harmonious and more complete picture of the creation events. The differences, then, can be summarized as follows:
GENESIS 1 GENESIS 2
Chronological order Topical order
Outline Details
Creating animals Naming animals
